Sandra Lea Tucker

Sandra (Sandy) Lea Tucker died in Oceanside, CA on November 1, 2021 surrounded by family and friends. She was a daughter, sister, aunt, friend, wife, and mother. Sandy was born in Washington DC on July 26, 1948 and raised in Virginia by parents Helen and William Morris and alongside her sister Judy and brother Bill. She earned a Bachelor's from Arizona State University and a Master's from Pacific Oaks College. In 1971, Sandy and Eugene Tucker married in Alabama. Gene was her soul mate, a Naval officer and they cherished 50 years together. She lived much of her life in Oceanside, CA, where she raised her daughters, Cassandra and Whitney, and worked as a child development specialist. She lived a life of service and was deeply committed to contributing to the children in her world. Throughout her career, she taught classes for childcare providers at local community colleges, consulted with childcare centers, cared for infants and toddlers and was a tremendous resource for parents. In retirement, her contributions to children and her community continued with over 5,000 hours of service to the Tri-City Hospital Auxiliary. She loved holding babies and knew the lyrics to every John Denver song. Her laugh was infectious and unforgettable. Sandy prioritized her friends and was loving, faithful and caring towards her inner circle. She is survived by her husband (Eugene Frank Tucker), children (Cassandra Blaine Tucker and Whitney Tucker Billeter), and siblings (Judith Marlene Murray, William Lee Morris) and their children. She is proceeded in death by her parents (William and Helen Morris (nee Nowell). A celebration of Sandy's life will be held in Spring or Summer 2022. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Sandy's name to Elizabeth Hospice in San Diego (https://elizabethhospice.org/).
