Michael Anthony Magliola born on August 13, 1947, in Blue Island, IL, passed away on April 5, 2024, in Phoenix, AZ, at the age of 76. He was an always-smiling husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.


Michael served in the United States Army from 1967-1973, with the rank of Sergeant in the infantry and serving as a radioman responsible for military communications in Vietnam. After his military service, he pursued a career at Illinois Bell. He retired from Century Link in Arizona after 33 years. He started a new career in security at Corona del Sol High School retiring after 10 years.


He was known for his infectious laughter, amazing smile and dad jokes. Michael loved spending time with his wife of 56 years, Barbara (Behrman) Magliola, his daughters Michele Bendon (Tom) and Lisa Baniewicz (Phil), his grandchildren Ryan, Austin, Miranda, Noah, Madeline, Hope, Abigail, and his great-granddaughter Kyla.


A man of many talents, Michael earned his First Degree Black Belt in Karate and was an avid runner and weightlifter. He valued good health and always emphasized "moderation" in life. While working full-time and supporting his family, he earned his associates degree from Chandler-Gilbert Community College in 1993.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Isabel Magliola, four older sisters, and his nephew, Timmy.


A funeral Mass will be held at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 16223 S. 48th Street, Phoenix, AZ 85048. June 8 at 11 a.m. He will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C.

Michael Anthony Magliola will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
