Obituary for Lois Jean (Beaghan) Truebe

Lois Jean (Beaghan) Truebe was born on March 5, 1930. She passed away peacefully April 1, 2023 in Fullerton, Ca., at the age of 93.

Lois was born to Peter and Marie (Schuerman) Beaghan in Peoria, IL. She is the youngest of three children. After high school, Lois attended and graduated from St. John’s Nursing School in SpringNield, IL. in 1952 with a 3 year diploma as a Registered Nurse (RN). She met her husband George through his sister, Mary Truebe, while she was attending nursing school.

Lois and George were married at St. James Catholic Church in Decatur on August 8, 1953. The Nuptial Mass was celebrated by her uncle, Fr. Phillip V. Beaghan. They had 7 children, raised them in their home in the suburbs of Decatur and were parishioners of Holy Family Catholic Church in Decatur. George worked as a QC Engineer at Borg Warner in Decatur. When Borg Warner closed in 1972, George and Lois moved their family to Tustin, CA.

Lois worked as an RN intermittently throughout her life while raising her family. She worked in hospitals, public health, the Visiting Nurses Association (VNA), and the American Red Cross. Her favorite nursing positions were in the VNA and Public Health where she ministered to people in their homes. She enjoyed conversing with them, learning about their lives and listening to their stories.

A couple of Lois’s favorite past times were listening to classical music and attending the theatre. Early in her life she wrote poetry but stopped after starting a family.

She renewed her interest in poetry over the last several years of her life.

Lois is survived by her children: Mary (Mark) Lapchak, Joseph (Susan) Truebe, Peter (Gretchen) Truebe, Therese Truebe, Christine (Marty Boisseranc) Truebe , Barbara (Tom) McLaughlin, her grandchildren: Joseph, Becky, Kevin, Brianna, Sam, Keely, Matthew, Christopher, Austin, Alexander and Ryan; her great grandchildren: J.T., Charlotte, Jack, Sophia, Rowen, Sloane, Nolan, Ava, and Hailey.

Lois is preceded in death by her husband George W. Truebe, son George Wilbur Truebe, parents Peter and Marie (Schuerman) Beaghan, brother Donald Beaghan and Dorothy Bernardoni.

Lois’s passions in life were her Catholic faith, the sanctity of life, and her love of Jesus.
