Kathryn Elizabeth Karam Mondotte — of Scottsdale, Arizona, formerly of Newtown, Pennsylvania — passed away peacefully at home on September 23, 2025, at the age of 72. Kathy was a graduate of Council Rock High School in 1971 and participated in Softball, Track and was a Cheerleader. Known affectionately as Kathy to family and friends, she leaves behind a legacy of resilience, creativity, and warmth.
To all who knew her, Kathy seemed to have lived “nine lives.” She embraced each chapter with fearless enthusiasm — pursuing new adventures, building deep friendships, and reinventing herself through various careers. Nothing brought her more joy than mornings on the golf course, followed by afternoons spent preparing meals and evenings hosting those she loved. Above all, she cherished quiet, personal moments with her daughter, Nicole.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Irvin Karam and Joan Karam, and by her beloved daughter, Kristen Lynn Hasenauer. She is survived by her devoted husband, Pierre Mondotte — who was a dedicated caregiver; Kathy’s daughter Nicole Hasenauer Patel, her brother Frank (Diane) Karam, her sister Vicky Karam Smith, Pierre’s son John (Kristine) Mondotte, Marci and Todd Mondotte (Dunn), stepsons Scott Hauskins, Mark Hauskins, and many nieces, nephews, two great grandchildren, seven grandchildren, and her cherished friends.
Kathy’s journey through life was marked by passion and reinvention. She once owned a boutique shoe store that reflected her impeccable style and entrepreneurial spirit. While raising two daughters, she also organized several charity events supporting the Head Trauma Foundation and the American Heart Association — drawing celebrity support and raising awareness for causes close to her heart.
Later, Kathy discovered her true creative calling in landscape design. Inspired by the beauty of the Southwest, she created Sonoran Oasis Images where she brought life to gardens, patios, and outdoor living spaces blending them to their natural surroundings. Her work mixed artistic vision with a builder’s hands-on touch, culminating with a book she authored on Outdoor Entertainment Ideas & Designs. Every space she touched carried her signature vibrancy — a reflection of her own southwestern spirit.
Kathy had a rare gift for connection. She could turn strangers into friends and friends into family with grace and ease. Her exuberance was contagious, and her openness inspired everyone around her to live more fully.
Her daughter Nicole continues to carry forward Kathy’s strength, creativity, and love for life. Kathy will be deeply missed, but her light lives on in all who knew her.
