Juana Marquez Shepardson

Juana Marquez Shepardson, 80, died peacefully surrounded by family on November 24, 2024 at her home in Ramona. Born on May 10th, 1944 in Mexico (Mother’s Day in Mexico). She was a member of St. Gabriels Catholic Church in Poway for many years. She moved to Poway in 1970 where she raised her daughters. She had a strong religious faith, enjoyed cooking, traveling, and was a Jeep and camping enthusiast. She continued Mamis’ Legacy of the love of nature. She would enjoy simple quite moments admiring a bird flying by or a beautiful sunset. Forever in our hearts and will always be remembered for her giving nature. 

 

She is survived by her children, Julissa (Josh) Voss, of San Diego and Reina (Cameron) Schleicher of San Diego; grandchildren Austin Voss, Courtney Voss, Cailin Schleicher and Taylor Schleicher; siblings Jesse Marquez, Raul (Minga) Marquez, Gloria Harris, Leticia (Tom) MacPherson, and many nieces and nephews; preceded in death by her husband Bruce Shepardson, parents Isabel “Mamis” and Octaviano “Papis” Marquez and sister Carmen Paredez (Edward). 

 

Her services will be held on January 18th @1pm at the Holy Cross Cemetery & Mausoleum Chapel, reception to follow. 

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
