Joanne Bonde
On June 3, 2025, Joanne Bonde, our loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother went to be with the Lord. She had prepared for this day with her faithful reading of Scripture, prayer, loving God and loving others.
Joanne married her high school sweetheart, Bob, after five years of dating. They celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary this past March. Together they raised three children: Mike, Jennifer (married to Dave), and Jim (married to Magui); welcomed five grandchildren: Julie (married to Ryan), Russell (married to Ali), Morgan, Anna, and Bobby; and were blessed with five great-grandchildren: Sage, Parker, Ginger, Levi, and Linden.
Joanne never sought the spotlight but was always a steady source of support in the many projects they undertook. She and Bob built their own home in Cardiff in 1971, traveled the world as tour hosts for over ten years, and were actively involved in numerous community causes. Joanne was a devoted lover of plants and flowers. She owned a greenhouse business and became a florist, using her talents to bring beauty and joy to others. She also volunteered for many years at the Encinitas Humane Society Thrift Store, and before that, at the Hospice of the North Coast Thrift Store. Fittingly, she passed away peacefully at the Hospice of the North Coast Pacifica House.
Joanne’s life was a testament to quiet faith, steady love, and selfless service. We are comforted knowing she is now in the arms of her Savior.
