Don Joseph Klinder, born on October 27, 1940 embraced his Savior, in whose grace he stands, on April 28, 2024.
Don was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin but spent his childhood and adult life in Phoenix, Arizona. He graduated from Brophy College Preparatory in 1959 where he formed life-long friendships and continued to attend athletic events at Brophy well into his life’s sunset. He was a permanent fixture on the football field sidelines and formed a special friendship with Head Football Coach Jason Jewell, who was a great encouragement to him when he could no longer attend games and practices.
Don worked at Rainbo Bakery (later known as the Earthgrains company) for more than 30 years and served in the US Coast Guard for 38 years before retiring.
Don is survived by four children, Susan (Thomas) Garcia, Joseph Klinder, Steven (Anjeanette) Klinder, Sharon (Michael) Dennehy; he is preceded in death by his son, Thomas Klinder. He is survived by eight grandchildren, Daniel (Lexi) Garcia, Joanna (John) Person, Bethany Garcia, Josiah Garcia, Vance Klinder, Dane Klinder, Abby Dennehy and Emmy Dennehy, and two great grandchildren, Aylah and Everett Garcia. He is also survived by his brother Jeff (Barbara) Klinder.
A celebration of life will be held on Monday, May 6th from 6-7:30 pm in the Naples room (3rd floor) at The Palazzo Senior Living Community, 6250 N. 19th Avenue, Phoenix, AZ. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Brophy College Preparatory in honor of Don Klinder would be appreciated
