Barbara Raymond Hickox

Barbara Raymond Hickox passed away peacefully at the age of 86 on October 19th, 2020 in Encinitas, California. She was the daughter of Edwin P. Raymond and Margaret D. Raymond of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Barbara was the wife of the late James P. Hickox of Litchfield, CT. They were married in 1956 in Greenwich, CT and resided outside of Philadelphia on the Main Line for 20 years. She was born on February 5,1934 in Wilmington, Delaware and grew up in Ft. Lauderdale. She was a graduate of The Madeira School in Virginia and attended Vassar College and Bennett Junior College, where she earned a degree in Interior Design. Barbara is survived by her three children, Cynthia H. Beal (Cinnie), and her husband, Stephan C. Beal, Polly C. Hickox, James P. Hickox, Jr. and her two grandsons, Owen C. Beal and Alexander H. Beal. Barbara moved to Rancho Santa Fe, CA in 2002 so she could watch her grandchildren grow up. Barbara's favorite place was in Westport Harbor, MA, where she spent the last 60 years during the summer and going for early morning swims in the ocean at Elephant Rock Beach Club. Her favorite past times were spent traveling, gardening, and spending time with her grandsons. She was a woman of fierce independence and determination. A private memorial service will be held this summer in Litchfield, CT.
